Course Description
Harmonious Chorus is designed to train those who have a rich interest in singing in a group and in experiencing the harmony of choral music. Students will learn to sing with proper protocol (posture, part-singing assignment, and communication with the conductor, commitment) in a choral setting, starting with various vocalization exercises, sight singing, and rhythm, and continue with harmony singing techniques including tuning, two-part to four-part harmony, diction, expression, and so forth. Finally, all techniques are to be applied to different styles of repertoire including popular, film, and classical music. There will be a greater requirement of attendance, i.e., commitment, because part-singing cannot work with part of the harmony missing.
Intended Learning Outcomes
CILO-1: Upon completion of the course, students should be able to demonstrate their choral singing skills in different vocal styles.
