This course introduces some methods and techniques in artificial intelligence, including expert systems, neural networks, statistical learning and pattern classification, and other selected topics. Students will learn how to apply these methods and techniques to their own research field. Practical examples are to be discussed and student research capability enhancement is a focus.

CILO-1: Analyze expert systems and evaluate their applications. CILO-2: Analyze and evaluate different types of neural networks and their applications. CILO-3: Apply knowledge of pattern classification and recognition and analyze their applications. CILO-4: Design and simulate expert systems, neural networks and pattern classifcation using softwares such as CLISP, Matlab or Python.
