Course Description
Active Network Theory given by Electrical and Computer Engineering, Faculty of Science and Technology of University of Macau. This course deals with the architecture and design techniques for receivers and transmitters used in modern wireless analog and digital communication systems with the emphasize of RF/MW active network likes switch, frequency agility component, amplifier and oscillator. CAE, and device modeling essential for the design and analysis of amplifiers, as well as nonlinear circuit distortion effects of active elements will be presented.
The focus of the course is not only the basic linear RF circuits using S-parameters but also their application in modern transceiver design which also involves the some non-linear effects discussion. Another important consideration in high frequency circuits is the layout; therefore some problems caused by coupling, grounding and parasitic resistance are also explored.
Intended Learning Outcomes
CILO-1: Explain the fundamental theorems of Active Networks.
CILO-2: Develop the ability to design and understand receivers and transmitters, and its layout considerations.
