Course Description
The second part of a calculus-based physics course designed specifically for science and engineering majors. Topics include principles of electricity and magnetism, direct and alternating circuits, electromagnetic waves, optics and diffraction. Selected experiments in technical physics are specifically provided.
Intended Learning Outcomes
CILO-1: Use potential method to analyze electric circuit.
CILO-2: Apply concepts of electric charge, electric field and electric potential to describle syetem of static charge.
CILO-3: Apply concepts of magnetic force, magnetic field and magnetic dipole moment to analyze charges under motion.
CILO-4: Use concepts of moving charges to analyze basic characteristics of different magnetic materials.
CILO-5: Use behaviors of electromagnetic wave to study light.
CILO-6: Analyze optical systems by geometric optics and wave optics.
