An in-depth understanding of the development of visual communication throughout history and in contemporary societies is fundamental for visual communication designers because it contextualizes his/her creative practice in historical terms. This course provides students the framework for visual communication history and to research on and engage with the contemporary visual communication world through reading, research, discussion, and writing.
Intended Learning Outcomes
CILO-1: Identify key points of Chinese and Western visual communication history to better understand the technical and conceptual development in the world of visual communication.
CILO-2: Discuss the multidimensional characters and meanings of the development of visual communication industry in historical terms.
