Course Description
This course introduces student to the historical development of mass media of communication in Macao since the city’s establishment more than 450 years ago. It explores issues such as the role of the media and their impact on Macao culture and society, as well as the formation and representation of Macao’s unique culture and identity.
Intended Learning Outcomes
CILO-1: Describe and explain the major features of media practices and media use in the contexts of Macao media and society.
CILO-2: Describe and explain the issues related to contemporary cultural issues in Macao, covered and illustrated by the media in Macao.
CILO-3: Evaluate the arguments represented in Macao media contents and discuss the meanings in the contexts of the relations between the media and Macao cultural identity.
CILO-4: Articulate the relations and differences between the categories and ideas of cultural identity across different historical periods in Macao.
CILO-5: Explain the media representation of the social and cultural issues in Macao.
