Course Description
This course is the first part of the animation course series. The production of digital animation is emphasized. The basic concepts, principles, and essential techniques of hand-drawn, two-dimensional, and three-dimensional animation, as well as today’s trends in the field, develop students’ understandings about the fundamentals in storytelling, scripting, and delivery of animated imagery for different platforms.
Intended Learning Outcomes
CILO-1: Analyze historical and principle of animation with traditional types of special effects for today’s high-tech film and animation industry and improve the aesthetic sensibility.
CILO-2: Demonstrate an understanding of traditional drawn character techniques and basic rules of sketching.
CILO-3: Gain the abilities of imagination and transfer ideas into action.
CILO-4: Generate new short story concepts successfully, analyze a story’s potential for animation and assess storyboards for continuity.
CILO-5: Use computer animation techniques to create elements for 2D animation with visual effects.
