Course Description
This is an introductory course in the theory and practice of communications, focusing on interpersonal and small group communication. Topics include face-to-face communication, social roles, relationship development, non-verbal as well as verbal communication, perception, leadership, and problem-solving.
Intended Learning Outcomes
CILO-1: Analyze interpersonal communication in such contexts as self-concept, perception, nonverbal communication, verbal communication, relationship building, and conflict management.
CILO-2: Identify examples of nonverbal communication, verbal communication and incorporate into analysis and observation.
CILO-3: Demonstrate reflective listening, nonverbal communication, verbal communication, and assertion in interpersonal communication settings.
CILO-4: Compare interpersonal communication styles between local versus other regions, and among various ethnic groups.
