This course will nourish students with their capabilities of selecting and/or developing remediation technologies appropriate for the causes and characteristics of contamination of the subsurface environment, soil and groundwater. This course will especially be focused on studying the causes of contamination of soil and groundwater, the characteristics and behaviors of contaminants, and the physical / chemical / biological / thermal remediation technologies.
Intended Learning Outcomes
CILO-1: Assess causes of contamination, characteristics and behaviors of contaminants in subsurface environment, soil and groundwater.
CILO-2: Choose appropriate remediation technologies for contamination of soil and groundwater.
CILO-3: Develop the best available physical/ (electro) chemical and kinetic/biological/thermal/hybrid remediation technology for subsurface contamination.
CILO-4: Identify the best remediation technology for application to contaminated subsurface environment.
CILO-5: Evaluate, analyze and implement application of remediation technology to contaminated soil and groundwater.
