This course intends to provide students the knowledge on both analytical and design aspects of reinforced concrete and prestressed concrete members. The course focuses on the following topics: the analysis and design of both statically determinate and indeterminate prestressed concrete members, the analysis and design of prestressed concrete composite sections, the limit analysis of reinforced concrete slabs, and the strut-and-tie method.
Intended Learning Outcomes
CILO-1: Apply the limit state design principles and engineering techniques to the analysis and design of both statically determinate and indeterminate prestressed concrete members for typical failure modes.
CILO-2: Apply the limit state design principles and engineering techniques to the analysis and design of prestressed concrete composite sections.
CILO-3: Apply the limit analysis in the strength determination and design of reinforced concrete slabs.
CILO-4: State the main ideas about the strut-and-tie method for the analysis and design of reinforced concrete members/elements (e.g., corbels and deep beams).
