Course Description
This course introduces the methods for numerical analysis in science and engineering. It includes the mathematical modeling and error analysis, methods for the solutions of linear and nonlinear algebraic equations, optimization, numerical differential derivation and integration, curve fitting, numerical solutions of ordinary and partial differential equations.
Intended Learning Outcomes
CILO-1: Identify the resources of numerical errors in numerical analysis, such as the round-off error, truncation error and others. Be able to take measure to avoid or reduce the numerical errors.
CILO-2: Make a mathematical problem transformed into a numerical problem for analysis.
CILO-3: Model a numerical problem reasonably by balancing the computational efficiency and solution precision.
CILO-4: Apply the provided numerical methods to write computer program for numerical analysis in thesis work.
