Course Description
This course as a special topic in e-commerce enables you to deepen your understanding of the principles and techniques involved in the design and interpretation of business analytics – that includes business data predictive analytics, web analytics, risks-and-opportunities analytics, market analytics and customer analytics, with an emphasis on e-business and e-commerce that are conducted online. Students are trained to learn the skills of e-business analytics, which embrace the theories, methodologies, hands-on use of applied mathematics and statistical software packages to generate sound decisions in dynamic e-business environment. Topics of e-business modeling, decision-support, simulation and optimization are covered as well.
Intended Learning Outcomes
CILO-1: Design data analytics, value creation, value modelling and business decision making and apply different data analytics methods to different applications and scenarios.
CILO-2: Analyse and interpret the meanings of the data analytics results, and apply suitable techniques to use for a given data analytics, decision making and optimization problems.
CILO-3: Communicate effectively by presenting and evaluating business proposals backed by empirical data, using appropriate terminology and visual aids in both written and oral formats.
CILO-4: Work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team to discuss alternative data analytics implementations and choice of methods, algorithms, and presentation formats for business decision making and optimization task.
CILO-5: Apply ethical and professional principles in handling data, data acquisition, processing and dissemination, ensuring adherence to legal and ethical standards.
