This foundational course introduces and explores the impact of information technology (IT) in our modern society. The course is designed to provide the fundamentals and practices for an effective use of IT in our daily lives. The course is divided in three modules: - Module I introduces the fundamentals of IT, the Internet and the Web, connectivity and mobility, and important issues in computer privacy, security and ethics. - Module II focuses on application software for computers and mobile devices. - Module III explores computer hardware and computer software, mobile devices and apps, communication and networking.

CILO-1: Understand the functionalities of the basic components of computer hardware and software, mobile devices and apps. CILO-2: Understand the fundamentals of information technology, including the Internet, the Web, connectivity and mobility. CILO-3: Be able to utilize software applications in practical activities in daily life. CILO-4: Be able to identify security and privacy threats in digital environment. CILO-5: Understand the social, legal and ethical impact of computing on society in the information age.
