Course Description
This course introduces to students the nature and functions of money and the principal institutions involved in the money or financial side of our macroeconomy. After this course, students would be able to gain skill and practice in the analysis of economic situations, events, and policies, particularly those directly involve in money, banking and financial market.
Intended Learning Outcomes
CILO-1: Describe what financial instruments are commonly used by banks and financial markets.
CILO-2: Interpret how interest rates are measured and determined in financial markets.
CILO-3: Interpret how commercial banks are profitably operated via effective management.
CILO-4: Explain the functions of financial regulations that are applied to banking industry.
CILO-5: Explain how monetary policy is conducted by central banks and analyze how monetary policy affects economy via different channels
CILO-6: Illustrate the differences lie among Macao, mainland China and the U.S. in terms of financial and monetary systems.
