Course Description
In this course, the behavior of atoms and shared electrons in solids will be described by classical physics and quantum mechanics. The discussion of solid with crystalline structure will be one of the emphases. Some properties of crystal such as defects, disorder and thermal vibration will be studied. Then, band theory and motion of electron will be investigated.
Intended Learning Outcomes
CILO-1: Students will be able to explain the concepts and principles in condensed matter physics, such as crystal structure, chemical bonding, and band structure.
CILO-2: Students will be able to design innovative materials.
CILO-3: Students will be able to fabricate materials by various methods, such as chemical deposition, chemical vapor deposition, and sputtering.
