Course Description
This course emphasizes the understanding of the fundamental concepts and basic knowledge of Earth and Universe. The main contents include the scale of Earth and Universe, the constellations, the progression of the seasons, the rotation of the Earth, the Moon, lunar & solar eclipse, the roots of science and astronomy, the concepts of different movements, the gravity, Doppler effect of light, the birth and death of stars, the black holes, big band theory, etc.
Intended Learning Outcomes
CILO-1: Explain the rotation and revolution of our Earth, lunar & solar eclipse.
CILO-2: Apply the knowledge of constellations to observe the star patterns at night in daily life.
CILO-3: Use Newton’s three laws and Kepler’s three laws to describe the movement of stars and planets.
CILO-4: Describe the life cycle of a star with different sizes.
