The course Research Ethics will be conducted online. PhD students will be required to pass the web-based learning modules in the CITI Programme (Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative at the University of Miami). Human Subjects Research – Social-Behavioral-Educational (SBE) Modules that was picked for FAH PhD students, content includes history and ethical principles, defining research with human subjects, the federal regulations, assessing risk, informed consent, privacy and confidentiality, research with prisoners and with children, research in public elementary and secondary schools, international and internet-based research, unanticipated problems and reporting requirements in social and behavioural research.

CILO-1: Demonstrate understanding of the ethical principles involved in arts and humanities research. CILO-2: Identify and analyze ethical issues in research and wider intellectual contexts. CILO-3: Plan their research in compliance with ethical principles.
