Course Description
1) reviews and discussions of teaching methodologies/approaches and reflections on effective pedagogy in specific teaching and learning contexts;
2) classroom observations and teaching practice under the supervision of the course instructor and a mentor teacher (engaging in every aspect of classroom teaching, including lesson planning and execution of lessons, interaction and feedback, assessment and evaluation, among other things)
3) a potential action research based on your observation and analysis of potential issues in that particular educational and instructional context.
Intended Learning Outcomes
CILO-1: Design and implement a long-term instructional plan to support the social, cultural, emotional, as well as linguistic development of L2 learners.
CILO-2: Design and implement a unit plan and lesson plans (for a specific group of L2 learners) with clear learning goals and effective instruction.
CILO-3: Select, adapt, and use culturally relevant, age-appropriate and linguistically accessible materials.
CILO-4: Use appropriate assessment and evaluative methods in and beyond the classroom context and for various purposes.
CILO-5: Reflect on their own teaching practices to identify strengths and weaknesses, as well as effective plans to address their own weaknesses.
CILO-6: Evaluate and critique their peer’s instructional design and teaching practice.
CILO-7: Conduct action research that can be used to support and improve teaching and learning.
