This course focuses on a systematic review of the grammatical difficulties common to learners of English, particularly learners whose first language is Chinese. There is a focus on devising clear descriptions of grammatical patterns from a learner’s perspective, diagnosing learners’ grammatical errors, and devising linguistically informed and appropriate strategies to assist learners to understand and correct these errors.

CILO-1: Identify and describe the prominent elements of English grammar.
CILO-2: Critically characterize typical difficulties encountered by learners of English as a second/foreign language.
CILO-3: Develop strategies and plans in helping learners overcome such difficulties.
