This course will concentrate on basic interpreting skills as a basis for more advanced interpreting training. It will cover skills such as note taking, memory span improvement, sight translation and the basics of consecutive interpreting. Students will undertake practical training in the language laboratory.

CILO-1: Demonstrate a development of their interpreting skills. CILO-2: Demonstrate understanding of the role of the consecutive interpreter and make use of traditional/modern tools in consecutive interpreting. CILO-3: Conduct consecutive interpreting in various contexts (business, tourism, ceremonial, court and diplomatic). CILO-4: Identify his/her own strengths and areas where further learning and development may be required.
