Course Description
This course focuses on practical translation of various types of business and administrative texts – e.g., business correspondence, reports, marketing materials, accounting documents, contracts, and policy addresses. We also discuss some relevant research studies in relation to the translation for administration and commerce. We aim to (a) improve students’ translation skills and (b) horn their ability to relate translation problems to relevant research of the field.
Intended Learning Outcomes
CILO-1: Demonstrate familiarity with various types of commercial and administrative texts and make effective use of translation strategies.
CILO-2: Systematically and independently conduct relevant translation projects to attain reasonable faithfulness and fluency.
CILO-3: Use various information technologies to assist their translation.
CILO-4: Discuss relevant linguistic, stylistic, sociocultural factors pertinent to the practice of commercial and administrative translation.
