Course Description
This course introduces the concepts of accounting principles and studies practices in government and non-profit organizations. Topics covered include budgeting, fund accounting, encumbrances and value of money in the public sector.
Intended Learning Outcomes
CILO-1: Understand governmental accounting standards and reporting practices, as well as budgeting approaches
CILO-2: Learn about various types of funds, budgetary accounting and reporting, revenue accounting, expenditure accounting, capital assets and long-term liabilities of a government
CILO-3: Understand financial statements issued by a government
