Course Description
This course aims to familiarize students with the fundamental concepts of the legal environment of business, so they can take legal dimensions into account when making business decisions. Topics to be covered include: Introduction to the legal and judicial systems of Macao; Sources of law; Overview of public and private law branches; Law of Persons; Law of Obligations including Contract Law and Civil Liability, Commercial Contracts, Company Law and Dispute Resolution.
Intended Learning Outcomes
CILO-1: Identify the key characteristics of Macao legal and judicial systems and distinguish them from others.
CILO-2: Define various sources of Macao law and recognize legal attributes of natural and legal persons subjected to law.
CILO-3: Describe the fundamental features of Macao public and private law branches and relate different areas of law to business activities.
CILO-4: Explain the essential elements of the law of obligations, distinguish contractual and legal obligations, and illustrate specific rules governing civil and commercial contracts.
CILO-5: Classify the legal forms of companies and partnerships, and choose from various dispute resolution methods.
